The story behind Nest Wars

How it started

I did not set out to film birds. After a career in the medical field, I retired and put up a few cameras around my home, mostly out of curiosity. One of those nest cams caught something I never expected: raw, unedited footage of life, death, and raptor encounters so strange I have not found them documented anywhere else. I was pulled in completely. What began as idle curiosity became a deep and lasting love for birds, and Nest Wars is where I share what these cameras keep revealing.

A great horned owl and a red-shouldered hawk battled over one live-oak nest, and the owl ended up incubating a hawk egg. It is rare raptor behavior, caught on genuine backyard footage in South Central Texas.

The application

Nest Wars Social Manager

The Social Manager is an internal desktop application used by the Nest Wars creator to organize owned video files, prepare platform-specific captions and metadata, schedule content, and publish through accounts that the creator has explicitly authorized.

Creator-controlled

The creator selects the media, reviews the generated package, chooses the platform, and initiates publishing. The application does not impersonate users or access unrelated accounts.

Local-first

Application data and authorization tokens are intended to remain on the creator's own computer unless a third-party platform requires transmission to provide an authorized service.

Platform permissions

Each platform connection uses its own authorization process and is limited to permissions approved by the account owner and the platform.
